Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2019
This bill makes wide-ranging amendments to over 35 justice-related Acts to improve court and tribunal efficiency. It modernises the coronial system, strengthens protections for vulnerable witnesses, expands when property offences can be dealt with in Magistrates Courts, and closes gaps in dangerous prisoner supervision laws.
Debt Reduction and Savings Bill 2021
This bill implements the Queensland Government's debt reduction and savings plan by restructuring government agencies and transferring some functions to the private sector or other departments. Property Law Bill 2023
This bill replaces Queensland's 50-year-old Property Law Act with modernised legislation that makes property transactions clearer and safer. It introduces a mandatory seller disclosure scheme so buyers receive standardised information before signing contracts, supports electronic conveyancing, and protects parties when settlement is disrupted by emergencies or system failures.
Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2021
This bill makes permanent several temporary COVID-19 measures across multiple areas of law. It modernises how Queenslanders can sign and witness important legal documents using electronic signatures and video links, improves access to domestic violence protection orders, and allows licensed restaurants to permanently offer takeaway wine with meals.
Hospital Foundations Bill 2018
This bill modernises the governance of Queensland's 13 hospital foundations and allows industrial hemp to be grown for food products. It replaces the outdated 1982 legislation governing hospital foundations with modern rules that better reflect how these charitable bodies actually operate, while also enabling Queensland farmers to grow low-THC hemp for the food market following a national decision to permit hemp seed foods.
Small Business Commissioner Bill 2021
This bill creates a permanent Queensland Small Business Commissioner to support small businesses with advice, advocacy, and dispute resolution. It transitions the temporary COVID-19 commissioner role established during the pandemic into a permanent statutory position, making Queensland consistent with other mainland states.
