Debt Reduction and Savings Bill 2021
This bill implements the Queensland Government's debt reduction and savings plan by restructuring government agencies and transferring some functions to the private sector or other departments. It transfers the land titles registry to a new private operator, abolishes Building Queensland, the Queensland Productivity Commission, and the Public Safety Business Agency, and changes how the National Injury Insurance Scheme Agency is governed.
Body Corporate and Community Management and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2023
This bill reforms Queensland's body corporate laws in several significant ways. It creates a new process for terminating ageing or uneconomic apartment and unit schemes with 75% owner support, protecting dissenting owners with fair compensation. It restricts developers from using sunset clauses to cancel 'off the plan' contracts, and modernises everyday rules around smoking, pets and parking in strata schemes.
Natural Resources and Other Legislation (GDA2020) Amendment Bill 2019
This bill updates Queensland's spatial positioning framework to the national GDA2020 standard, ensuring maps stay accurate as Australia drifts north-east. It also creates easier pathways for Traditional Owners to receive land under Indigenous Land Use Agreements and streamlines state land lease renewals.
Economic Development and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2018
This bill makes wide-ranging improvements to Queensland's economic development and planning legislation. It streamlines how Priority Development Areas are managed, expands the Queensland Reconstruction Authority's role to include disaster prevention and resilience (not just recovery), and makes administrative improvements to infrastructure planning and the planning courts.
