Police Powers and Responsibilities and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2024

This bill modernises Queensland's search and inspection laws to recognise trans and gender diverse people, replacing outdated same-sex rules with gender-responsive safeguards across police, corrections, mental health and public health legislation. It also restricts how often prisoners can reapply for parole after being refused and expands the health professionals who can assess prisoners at risk of self-harm.

Housing Legislation Amendment Bill 2021

This bill reforms Queensland's rental laws to give tenants stronger protections and ensure all rental homes meet minimum standards. It abolishes 'without grounds' evictions, introduces a framework for renting with pets, strengthens domestic and family violence protections, and prescribes minimum housing standards for safety, security, and functionality. It also exempts resident-operated freehold retirement villages from mandatory unit buyback requirements.

Criminal Law (Coercive Control and Affirmative Consent) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2023

This bill makes coercive control a criminal offence in Queensland and introduces an affirmative model of consent for sexual offences. It implements recommendations from the Women's Safety and Justice Taskforce to better protect victims of domestic, family and sexual violence, while also reforming how courts handle bail, sentencing and evidence in these cases.
