Education (Overseas Students) Bill 2017
This bill replaces Queensland's old overseas students law, creates a new statutory regime for international secondary student exchange programs, and sets up the legal framework for the new senior assessment system and ATAR that began with Year 11 students in 2019. It also makes minor amendments to home education rules, school councils and school terminology.

This bill modernises Queensland's regulation of schools that teach overseas students, introduces external exams for senior high school students, updates home education rules, and fixes an error that stopped regional shops from opening on Easter Saturday.
Public Health (Medicinal Cannabis) Bill 2016
This bill creates a legal pathway for seriously ill Queenslanders to be treated with medicinal cannabis, while keeping all other cannabis use illegal. Doctors can apply to Queensland Health for approval to prescribe medicinal cannabis to a specific patient, or, in future, prescribe as-of-right if they belong to a class of specialists listed in a regulation. Pharmacists need a dispensing approval to hand it out, and patients, carers and institutions have clear rules about how to store and use it.
