Gas Supply and Other Legislation (Hydrogen Industry Development) Amendment Bill 2023
This bill updates Queensland's gas laws to regulate hydrogen and other renewable gases alongside traditional natural gas. It creates a 'covered gas' category that includes hydrogen, biomethane, synthetic methane and gas blends, and establishes a clear licensing pathway for hydrogen pipelines. This bill authorises the Queensland Government to spend approximately $60.86 billion in the 2020-21 financial year across all government departments. It also provides $30.43 billion in interim supply for early 2021-22 to keep services running until the next budget is passed.
