Vegetation Management and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2018
This bill reinstates and strengthens Queensland's vegetation clearing laws, delivering on the government's election commitment to end broadscale tree clearing. It removes the ability to clear remnant vegetation for agriculture, extends regrowth protections to freehold and indigenous land, expands watercourse protections to all Great Barrier Reef catchments, and significantly increases penalties for unlawful clearing.
Resources Safety and Health Queensland Bill 2019
This bill establishes Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) as an independent statutory body to regulate safety and health across Queensland's coal mining, mineral mining, quarrying, explosives, and petroleum and gas industries. It separates the safety regulator from the department that promotes industry growth, responding to the coal workers' pneumoconiosis (black lung disease) inquiry that found the regulator lacked independence. The bill also creates an independent Commissioner for Resources Safety and Health and gives the Work Health and Safety prosecutor responsibility for prosecuting serious safety offences.
Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2026

Sunshine Coast Waterways Authority Bill 2026
This bill creates the Sunshine Coast Waterways Authority, a new government body dedicated to managing the region's rivers, creeks, lakes and coastal waterways. It responds to community concerns about fragmented management — particularly around the Bribie Island breakthrough into Pumicestone Passage — by putting one authority in charge of strategic planning, infrastructure, navigational access, and sand and sediment management for Sunshine Coast waterways.
Nature Conservation and Other Legislation (Indigenous Joint Management - Moreton Island) Amendment Bill 2020
This bill enables the joint management of national parks and conservation parks on Moreton Island (Mulgumpin) by the Quandamooka People and the Queensland Government. Safer Waterways Bill 2018
This bill sought to create a Queensland Crocodile Authority based in Cairns to manage saltwater crocodile populations across the state. It responded to growing community concern about increasing crocodile numbers and attacks in North Queensland, with 25 recorded attacks between 1985 and 2015 (seven fatal) and three attacks in the year before the bill was introduced (two fatal). The bill's second reading failed and it did not become law.
Forest Wind Farm Development Bill 2020
