Education and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2026
This bill makes a broad set of changes across Queensland's education and arts portfolios. For education, it streamlines how private schools are accredited, lets schools use temporary sites in emergencies, formally recognises schooling in youth detention, supports programs that re-engage disengaged students, and lets Queensland private schools deliver the senior certificate overseas. For the arts, it modernises governance of five state arts bodies and makes scalping tickets at QPAC an offence.
Arts (Statutory Bodies) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2024
This bill strengthens First Nations recognition and governance across Queensland's five major cultural institutions — the State Library, Art Gallery, Museum, Performing Arts Trust and Theatre Company. It mandates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander board representation, creates dedicated First Nations Committees, and modernises board governance with criminal history checks and accountability measures. It also introduces anti-ticket scalping rules for QPAC events.
