LegislationReferenced in 4 bills
Transport and Other Legislation (Managing E-mobility Use and Protecting Our Communities) Amendment Bill 2026
This bill is Queensland's response to a near-doubling of e-mobility injuries and a parliamentary inquiry into e-bikes, e-scooters and personal mobility devices. It introduces a minimum riding age of 16 and a driver-licence requirement, creates new offences and strong police powers to seize and destroy illegal 'prohibited bikes', brings in drink-riding offences with breath testing, and makes parents, hire companies and retailers share responsibility for keeping children and pedestrians safe.
Home Ownership and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2026
This bill makes technical changes to Queensland's home grant and tax laws so that people buying through the Boost to Buy and Help to Buy shared equity schemes get the same stamp duty discounts, First Home Owner Grant and land tax exemption as other buyers, even though the government holds a share in their home. It also widens first home stamp duty relief, confirms certain 'builders' terms' homes are still new homes, and tidies up outdated references across five tax Acts.
Waste Reduction and Recycling and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2023
This bill modernises Queensland's waste laws by embedding the circular economy principle, banning outdoor balloon releases, removing the clean earth levy exemption, and requiring local councils to be transparent about how they spend waste levy payments. It was passed with amendment.
Transport and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2023
This bill makes a wide range of changes to Queensland's transport laws. It transfers heavy vehicle regulatory staff to the national regulator, strengthens road safety rules for e-scooter and bicycle riders on footpaths, extends safety duties to all bus and public passenger services, and modernises toll payment dispute processes.
