Debated together with Appropriation Bill 2026 and Revenue (Cost of Living Relief Locked-in Law) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2026
Attacked the budget for failing to fund the Bundaberg Police Station, a second Bundaberg fire station and clear funding for the new Bundaberg Hospital.
“This is another blue budget that refuses to deliver for the blue front line—the men and women who wear our mighty blue uniform right across the Bundaberg region.”— 2026-06-25View Hansard
Argued the bill broke the LNP's election commitment by removing the RIDA process and was developed with inadequate consultation, and challenged government committee members to move a further amendment mandating a full RIDA for every new drilling project.
“So we have gone from a complete commitment that every new project will undergo a RIDA to the Deputy Premier creating a piece of legislation that removes that very election commitment!”— 2026-06-24View Hansard
Opposed the bill, supporting the reasoned amendment to send it back to committee, arguing the government ignored the Johnston review's phased implementation and its recommendation to retain the commissioner, and merged the Land Access Ombudsman with Coexistence Queensland without consulting agricultural stakeholders.
“By ignoring the recommended 18-month staged implementation of reforms to the RSHQ and instead rushing through complex regulatory and structural changes, this LNP government is putting the safety of Queensland resource workers at risk.”— 2026-05-12View Hansard
