Waste Reduction and Recycling (Plastic Items) Amendment Bill 2020

This bill bans single-use plastic straws, stirrers, plates, bowls and cutlery in Queensland to reduce plastic pollution. Healthcare facilities, pharmacies and schools are exempt so people with disabilities and healthcare needs can still access these items. The ban can be expanded to additional plastic products by regulation after public consultation.

Liquor (Artisan Liquor) Amendment Bill 2020

This bill amends the Liquor Act 1992 to create a new artisan producer licence for Queensland's craft brewers and artisan distillers. It gives small, independent producers a tailored licensing framework with on-premises sales, takeaway, online ordering, and the ability to sell at promotional events like farmers markets. Night-Life Economy Commissioner Bill 2024

This bill establishes a Night-Life Economy Commissioner to support and advocate for Queensland's night-life sector, including live music venues, bars, clubs, and entertainment businesses. Created in response to economic challenges facing the sector, the Commissioner will work with industry and all levels of government to promote the growth, sustainability, and vibrancy of businesses that operate between 6pm and 6am.

Liquor (Rural Hotels Concession) Amendment Bill 2018

This bill cuts liquor licence fees by 90% for pubs located in very remote parts of Queensland. It recognises that hotels in remote communities are often the only social gathering place and struggle financially due to small populations and seasonal income fluctuations.

Holidays and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2019

This bill makes Christmas Eve a part-day public holiday in Queensland from 6pm to midnight. It recognises that Christmas celebrations often begin on the evening of 24 December and ensures workers are either able to refuse work after 6pm or receive penalty rates if they do work.
